The Hague, the third largest city in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the capital of South Holland Province, is the political, commercial, financial and international conference center of the Netherlands. 1. Mauritshuis
The Mauritshuis was built in 1641 and is one of the most important museums in The Hague. This 17th-century mansion is often called the "jewel box". It is richly decorated and elegant, and is a model of Dutch classical architecture. 2. Binnenhof
The Binnenhof is a 13th-century castle that is home to the highest government offices in the Netherlands and the meeting place of the two houses of parliament. It is also home to the Ministry of General Affairs and the office of the Dutch Prime Minister. The Binnenhof is a complex of buildings located next to the Hovvevej Lake. The most attractive part of the complex is the Gothic Rijkshalle, also known as the "Knight's Hall", which was originally built as a dance hall and is now the center of the Binnenhof. The building is currently listed as one of the top 100 heritage sites in the Netherlands and is one of the oldest surviving parliamentary buildings in the world and can be visited by the public.
3. Peace Palace
The Peace Palace was built between 1907 and 1913 with funds donated by American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and is one of The Hague's most famous landmarks. Home to the International Court of Justice, the International Law Library and the Academy of International Law, this beautiful building and its organization ensure that The Hague is recognized as a city of peace and justice.
4. Nordende Palace
Nordende Palace in The Hague was built in 1533 as a gift to the widow of William of Orange in recognition of her husband's contribution to the Netherlands. Nordende Palace is one of the four palaces owned by the Dutch royal family in the country and is also the office of King Willem-Alexander. Noordeinde Palace is one of the three official palaces of the Dutch royal family and is surrounded by the most beautiful boutiques and the most beautiful galleries.
5. Escher in Het Paleis
The Escher in Het Paleis is located in The Hague, Netherlands, and is the winter residence of the former Queen Regent Emma. The museum houses all of Escher's works, including more than 120 prints in the collection, which show the evolution of Escher from his early woodcuts of figures and natural landscapes to his later revolutionary mosaics, deformations and optical illusions.
6. Scheveningen Boulevard
Scheveningen Promenade is a wide boulevard that runs along the beach in Scheveningen, once a sleepy fishing village and now a seaside resort. 7. Panorama Mesdag
The Panorama Mesdag is located in Scheveningen, The Hague, Netherlands. It is a museum dedicated to displaying a panorama painting. The museum's treasure is a 360-degree panorama painting that records the scene of Scheveningen Beach in 1881. This painting is known as one of the earliest panoramas in the world.
8. Ridderzaal
The Ridderzaal is the main building of the historic Hohensalzburg Castle. This part of the Gothic building is dedicated to hosting special events related to the Dutch monarchy and parliament, including royal receptions, meetings and speeches by the monarch from his throne located in the hall. Similar to the Hohensalzburg, the Ridderzaal also offers private tours of its interior.
9. Madurodam
Madurodam is a 1:25 scale miniature version of the Netherlands that lets you tour the entire country in under an hour. Since its development in The Hague in 1952, Madurodam has been one of the most popular attractions in the Netherlands, showcasing the epitome of Dutch culture with perfectly decorated scale model replicas of bridges, canals, windmills and major national landmarks.
10. Gemeentemuseum Den Haag
The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag is a multifunctional museum that not only exhibits works by well-known artists, but also presents exhibitions on themes such as fashion, ceramics and music. The contemporary art department of the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag is considered one of the most beautiful museums in the Netherlands and has the world's largest collection of works by Mondrian, including "Victory Dance".
