    Chiang Mai is a city in northern Thailand with beautiful environment and cool climate. It is famous for its roses and is known as the "Rose of Northern Thailand". Chiang Mai has a long history and many cultural relics.

    Chiang Mai was once the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand for a long time, and still retains many precious historical and cultural relics.     1. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

    Overlooking the city from its mountain throne, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is one of northern Thailand's most sacred temples, and its founding legend is learned by every schoolkid in Chiang Mai. The wát is a beautiful example of northern Thai architecture, reached via a 306-step staircase flanked by naga (mythical sea serpents). The climb is intended to help devotees accrue Buddhist merit.

    2. Wat Phra Singh

    Wat Phra Singh is one of the most important temples in Chiang Mai and the largest Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai. It is also known as one of the "Three Great Temples in Chiang Mai" along with Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang. The temple houses a revered Buddha statue of Phra Singh, which is said to have been brought to Thailand from Sri Lanka in the 14th century. The temple is also famous for its beautiful architecture and exquisite wood carvings.

    3. Wat Chedi Luang

    Wat Chedi Luang is one of the most impressive temples in Chiang Mai. Built in the 14th century, the temple was once home to the Emerald Buddha, which is now housed in Bangkok’s Grand Palace. The temple’s most striking feature is the massive chedi (stupa), which stands over 80 feet tall.

    4. Wiang Kum Kam

    Wiang Kum Kam, located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, was built by King Mengrai of the Lanna Dynasty in 1286 AD and was the first capital of the Lanna Dynasty. Wiang Kum Kam is a historic site. Although most of the buildings have been destroyed, there are still some important buildings preserved, which are worth exploring for history lovers.

    5. Doi Suthep-Pui National Park

    Doi Suthep-Pui National Park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Chiang Mai. It is home to Doi Suthep, a mountain that is revered by the Thai people. The park offers stunning views of the city and is a great place to hike, cycle or take a leisurely stroll. The highlight of the park is the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a stunning temple that is perched on the top of the mountain.

    6. Elephant Conservation Centre

    Established in the year 1993, the Elephant Conservation Center is a government-owned organization. It has, since its inception, been a pioneer attraction and is considered among the finest Chiang Mai places to visit. Nearly 50 gigantic mammals form the pillars of strength of this place and visitors are allowed to feed and bathe them too. The elephants can even paint and play musical instruments, which is a delight to watch.

    7. Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden

    Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden is located at the foot of a mountain in Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province. It opened in 1992 and is the oldest and most important botanical garden in Thailand. It is also a center for scientific research, dedicated to the collection and protection of Thai plants and the research and cultivation of rare and endangered flowers.

    8. Doi Inthanon National Park

    The Doi Inthanon National Park is a significant national park, featuring Thailand’s highest peak. Doi Inthanon National Park, commonly known as "The Roof of Thailand," known for its waterfalls, a few paths, isolated towns, vistas, sunrise/sunset watching, birdwatching, and the chilly weather that lasts all year at higher elevations.

    9. Lanna Folklife Museum

    The Lanna Folklife Museum is an interesting museum full of exhibitions about the lives, history and culture of the Lanna people of northern Thailand. The museum (also called the Lanna Heritage Center) is located opposite the Three Kings Monument in the middle of the old city and sits inside the old municipal court of Chiang Mai.

    10. Chiang Dao Cave

    The Chiang Dao Cave is a popular tourist attraction north of Chiang Mai; featuring over 12 kilometres of underground caverns and passages – although only a small portion is accessible to tourists. The sheer size of the limestone cave is so massive that visitors are only allowed to visit with a guide, but that’s what makes the cave so spectacular.
