Hangzhou Qiandao Lake Travel Guide: Thousand-year-old lake with various forms

　　Qiandao Lake, located in Chun'an County, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is a man-made lake formed to impound the upper reaches of Xin'an River for the construction of Xin'an River Hydropower Station. The characteristic landscapes of Qiandao Lake include Thousand Islands, Beautiful Waters, and Golden Belt (a golden belt surrounds the junction of the island and the lake). Qiandao Lake receives more than 5 million tourists a year, and is listed as a national civilized forest park. It is rated by Taiwanese tourists and media as one of the three major hotspots for Taiwanese citizens to travel to the mainland, and is as famous as Beijing and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.

　　1. Travel Time

　　Qiandao Lake is suitable for tourism all year round, but the best time to travel is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). In spring, the Qiandao Lake Greenway is full of flowers, suitable for self-driving or cycling. Autumn is the best time to taste Qiandao Lake fish head.

　　2. Transportation

　　You can choose to take the high-speed rail, bus or self-driving to Qiandao Lake. From Hangzhou, the high-speed rail journey is about 1 hour, and the bus journey is about 2-3 hours. If you choose to drive yourself, you can start from Hangzhou and drive about 129 kilometers along the Hangzhou-Xinjing Expressway to reach it.

　　3. Sightseeing attractions

　　Central Lake Area: The Central Lake Area is the essence of Qiandao Lake, mainly including Meifeng Island, Yule Island, Longshan Island and Moonlight Island. Meifeng Island is the highest island in the lake. You can go up the mountain along the trail or take the cable car to and from. There are two viewing platforms on the top of the mountain, overlooking the beauty of the entire Qiandao Lake. Yule Island has various recreational projects, such as motorboats, various performances, giant net fishing, etc. Longshan Island and Moonlight Island also have their own characteristics and are worth visiting.

　　Southeast Lake Area: The main attractions in the Southeast Lake Area include Huangshan Peak, Tianchi Island, Osmanthus Island and Mishan Island. Huangshan Peak is the scenic business card of Qiandao Lake. You can walk or take the cable car to the top and overlook the wonders of "the world is for the public" composed of large and small islands. Tianchi Island, Guihua Island and Mishan Island each have their own characteristics, such as the clear water pool and koi on Tianchi Island, the wild osmanthus and karst landforms on Guihua Island, etc.

　　Qiandao Lake Cycling: Qiandao Lake Greenway is a bicycle path built along the lake, with a total length of about 150 kilometers. The scenery along the way is beautiful and suitable for cycling. You can choose to rent a public bicycle or bring your own bicycle for cycling.
