On June 1, 1997, Central Avenue was converted into a pedestrian street, becoming the first commercial pedestrian street in China. It was selected as the first batch of national tourist resorts on January 10, 2022, and was selected as the third batch of "National Demonstration Pedestrian Streets" in November 2023.
