Xi'an Beilin Museum was expanded on the basis of the ancient buildings of Xi'an Confucius Temple. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Confucius Temple built in Chang'an Guozijian in the early years of the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. Affected by the wars in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, the Confucius Temple was relocated several times and finally moved to its current location in the second year of Chongning in the Northern Song Dynasty (1103).
