5. Introduction
Hunan Museum is located on Dongfeng Road in the north of the city, west of Martyrs Park. It was planned in 1951 and opened in 1956. It is mainly engaged in the collection, collection, research and display of ancient and modern Chinese cultural relics. There are 120,000 cultural relics in the collection, including more than 700 first-class collections. The old-style wooden building on one side of the gate mainly displays revolutionary historical materials; on the other side is a modern building built with an investment of nearly 300 million yuan, which displays thousands of extremely precious cultural relics such as female corpses from the Western Han Dynasty, colored silk paintings, bamboo slips, lacquerware, musical instruments, coffins, etc. excavated from the Mawangdui Han Tomb. The female corpse is more than 2,100 years old, but the body is intact, the soft tissue is still elastic, and some joints can still move. The plain gauze dress unearthed from the tomb is about 1.28 meters long and weighs less than 50 grams. Its exquisite craftsmanship is amazing. The content is very rich and has distinct local characteristics. There are special rooms for "Mawangdui Han Tomb Exhibition" and "Hunan Historical Relics Exhibition".
