  Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi Province, China. It is abbreviated as "Bing", also known as Bingzhou and Longcheng. Taiyuan was once the capital of the Northern Qi Dynasty and the Northern Han Dynasty. It was named "Jinyang" because it is located on the south bank of the Jin River. Taiyuan is located in the central part of Shanxi Province, in the northern part of the Jinzhong Basin. It is surrounded by mountains on the north, east and west sides, connected to the Jinzhong Plain in the south, and the Fen River runs through the entire territory from north to south. Taiyuan not only has a superior geographical location, but is also the political, economic, cultural, transportation and international exchange center of Shanxi Province.

  Main attractions:

  1. Jinci Temple

  Jinci Temple, located at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain and the source of Jinshui River, 25 kilometers southwest of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is a precious historical and cultural heritage integrating ancient Chinese temple architecture, gardens, sculptures, murals, and stele art. It is also a very magnificent and brilliant chapter in the world's architecture, gardens, and sculpture art from the 7th to the 12th century. Jinci Temple is a temple dedicated to Ji Yu, the first prince of Jin State in the early Western Zhou Dynasty.

  2. Mengshan Buddha

  The Mengshan Buddha is located in the northwest of Sidi Village, Jinyuan District, Taiyuan City, on the northern peak of Mengshan Mountain. It was built in the second year of Tianbao in the Northern Qi Dynasty (551 AD), and has a history of more than 1,400 years. Since the advent of the Giant Buddha, it has been favored by the royal family of successive dynasties, and many monks have come here. From the Northern Qi Dynasty to the Northern Han Dynasty, over 400 years, emperors such as Li Yuan, Li Zhi, Wu Zetian, Liu Zhiyuan, and Liu Jiyuan came here to worship the Buddha.

  3. Tianlong Mountain

  Tianlong Mountain is a scenic spot in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It was originally named Fangshan Mountain. It is 1,370 meters above sea level and is located 11 kilometers west of Jin Temple. In 560 (the first year of Emperor Jian of the Northern Qi Dynasty), Tianlong Temple was built there and the mountain was named after the temple. The most famous scenic spot in Tianlong Mountain is the cave art, which is a key cultural relic protection unit in Shanxi Province. The main peak of Tianlong Mountain is 441 meters above sea level. It combines the wonders of Huangshan Mountain, the dangers of Huashan Mountain and the beauty of Guilin. It has the characteristics of one danger, two wonders and three beauty.

  4. Twin Towers Temple

  Yongzuo Temple, commonly known as the Twin Towers Temple, is located in the southeast of Taiyuan City. It is the only temple in China that is entirely made of brick-like, wood-like beamless buildings. The main hall, meditation hall, guest hall, and Sansheng Pavilion in the temple are all representative of Ming Dynasty beamless brick structures. The twin towers built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty are the most complete, largest, and tallest set of brick towers in the country, and can be called the best twin towers in my country.

  5. Shanxi Museum

  Shanxi Museum, located at No. 13, North Section of Binhe West Road, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is one of the first national first-class museums and a national museum jointly built by the central and local governments. It is the largest cultural relic collection, preservation, protection, research and exhibition center in Shanxi. With its rich cultural relics and exquisite exhibitions, Shanxi Museum has become an important window for understanding the history and culture of Shanxi.

  6. Taiyuan Zoo

  Taiyuan Zoo, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, was founded in December 1957 and is located on Wohu Mountain in the northeast corner of Taiyuan. Taiyuan Zoo is a specialized park that is responsible for daily management work such as wildlife breeding, off-site protection, introduction and domestication, exhibition and safety management, domestic and foreign animal exchanges, park enrichment and greening management, environmental cleaning, facility maintenance, tour order, and visitor safety.

  7. Taiyuan Botanical Garden

  The Taiyuan Botanical Garden project is located 800 meters south of Luocheng Expressway Exit in Jinyuan District, 100 meters north of Fengyusha River in the north, Taigu Highway in the south, Fengyugoukou in the west, and Jinyang Avenue in the east, with a total area of about 2,730 acres. Taiyuan Botanical Garden is the only comprehensive botanical garden in Shanxi Province that integrates scientific research, popular science education, horticultural appreciation and cultural tourism.

  8. Taiyuan Ancient County Town

  As the old city of Taiyuan, the Taiyuan Ancient County Town was built in the middle and late Spring and Autumn Period. It has gone through the Qin, Han, Three Kingdoms, Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties. It has lasted for more than a thousand years from its construction to its burning. It is unique among the capital sites in China. The capitals of the Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, Tang, Northern Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties were all located in Shanxi. Jinyang, the capital of Shanxi, has always been at the elbow of the central government. In history, 15 emperors have successively governed and won military achievements here. This is a veritable place where dragons rise.

  9. Fen River City Park

  Taiyuan Fen River City Park, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, was built in October 1998. It starts from the Shanglan Fenhe Flood Bridge in the north and ends 2 kilometers south of the Yingbin Bridge in the south. It runs through the entire Taiyuan City for 43 kilometers, 220 meters wide, and a total area of about 20 square kilometers. A large number of trees are planted in the park, and green grass is surrounded by stones, forming a green ecological corridor along the Fenhe River.

  10. East Lake Vinegar Garden

  East Lake Vinegar Garden is a shining pearl of Chinese vinegar culture. It gathers vinegar of various brands and flavors. While enjoying the delicious taste, you can also learn about the production process and historical evolution of vinegar. East Lake Vinegar Garden is not only a place to sell Shanxi aged vinegar, but also a factory-style museum that displays its production process and historical culture. Visitors can learn about various vinegar-making utensils and farming tools from the Western Han Dynasty to the present, as well as more than 700 vinegar-therapeutic prescriptions.
