The Mengshan Buddha, also known as the Xishan Buddha, is located in Mengshan, more than 20 kilometers southwest of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It is a cultural relic protection unit in Taiyuan City. The exposed chest and neck part of the Mengshan Giant Buddha is 17.5 meters high, 25 meters wide, and the neck diameter is 5 meters wide. The Mengshan Giant Buddha was carved during the Tianbao period of the Northern Qi Dynasty. It was originally a cliff Buddha statue behind the Kaihua Temple in Mengshan.
