Nanjing Zhanyuan Travel Guide: Appreciate the Beauty of Ancient Architecture

　　Zhanyuan is the best-preserved Ming Dynasty classical garden complex in Nanjing. It is also the only Ming Dynasty palace open to the public. It was once part of the residence of Xu Da, a founding hero of the Ming Dynasty, and the office of the governors of Jiangnan in the Qing Dynasty. During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom period, it was the palace of Yang Xiuqing, the Eastern King. Zhanyuan has gone through the Ming, Qing, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the Republic of China and the present. Like most gardens in Jiangnan, it has a complex history and has undergone changes.

　　1. Address: No. 208 Zhanyuan Road, Nanjing, also known as the Daming Palace and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom History Museum.

　　2. Opening hours: 08:30-17:30 during the day; 17:30-20:30 at night.

　　3. Tickets: Minors under 18 years old and students with student ID cards, and people over 70 years old are free of charge. Nanjing Zhanyuan ticket is 30 yuan, and tickets for people over 60 years old (inclusive) are 15 yuan. (Source: Telephone consultation 025-52201849).

　　4. Transportation: Take Metro Line 1 and get off at Sanshan Street (Exit 3);

　　Take Metro Line 3 and get off at Confucius Temple (Exit 4).

　　5. Route: Zhanyuan is divided into two parts, the west and the east. The west is a typical Jiangnan garden. The ancient buildings in the garden include the Pavilion of View, the Flower Basket Hall, the Zhishuang Pavilion, the Yingcui Pavilion and the winding corridors. These buildings and corridors divide the entire Zhanyuan into 5 small courtyards and a main garden. Jingmiao Hall is located in the middle of the main garden, surrounded by water on three sides and on one side. There is a rockery on the north and south of the hall, and the water is connected. There is also a Suihan Pavilion on the rockery on the west. The west gate is the west of Zhengcao Hall.
