The Dabaoen Temple Ruins Scenic Area is located outside Zhonghua Gate in Nanjing, adjacent to the Outer Qinhuai River in the north, Yuhua Terrace in the south, 1865 Park in the east, and Yuhua Road in the west. Dabaoen Temple is a relatively old Buddhist temple in Chinese history. Its predecessor was Jianchu Temple and Asoka Pagoda built during the Chiwu period of the Eastern Wu Dynasty (238-250 AD). It is the second temple in China after the White Horse Temple in Luoyang, and the first Buddhist temple built in southern China. It is known as the three major temples in Jinling together with Linggu Temple and Tianjie Temple, and has hundreds of temples under its jurisdiction. The Dabaoen Temple Ruins is a temple site with higher specifications, larger scale and better preservation in China. In 2008, a large number of cultural relics such as "Buddha's True Bone", "Inductive Relics", "Relics of All Saints" and "Seven Treasures Asoka Pagoda" were unearthed from the underground palace of Changgan Temple, the predecessor of Dabaoen Temple, which shocked the world and the Buddhist community. In 2011, it was rated as one of the "Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries in China in 2010". In 2013, it was approved and announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit. The core area of ??the scenic spot includes the site protection area, the Da Baoen Temple site museum, and the Da Baoen Temple, etc., which enshrine the responsive relics, display the thousand-year-old national treasures such as the stone casket, iron casket, seven-treasure Ashoka pagoda, gold coffin and silver coffin unearthed from the underground palace, and protect the Da Baoen Temple site such as the thousand-year-old underground palace and gallery.
