Shanghai Museum is a world-renowned museum of ancient Chinese art, founded in 1952, its predecessor can be traced back to the establishment of the Asian Cultural Society Shanghai Museum in March 1874. Shanghai Museum is one of the first national key museums jointly built by the central and local governments, one of the first national first-class museums, and one of the first national key protection units for ancient books. It has a collection of more than 1.02 million cultural relics, including more than 145,000 precious cultural relics. The collection of cultural relics includes 33 categories, covering all kinds of representative material evidence of fine traditional Chinese culture. It is one of the most complete collections of ancient Chinese art museums in the world.
With the mission of building a "spiritual home" of Chinese culture and an "encyclopedia" of human civilization, the Shanghai Museum maintains the integrity of fine Chinese culture and creates new opportunities for exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations. At present, the Shanghai Museum is deepening the implementation of the "Grand Museum Plan", building a new development pattern of "3+X", that is, the East Museum, the People's Square Museum and the North Museum as the core, and continuously promoting the establishment of a number of branches at home and abroad or overseas "China exhibition hall", striving to integrate the historical heritage and the trend of The Times, and make the international style and the Oriental charm complement each other.
Higashiguan
The East Hall is located at No. 1952 Century Avenue, Pudong New Area, taking "the world's top museum of ancient Chinese art" as its main positioning. There are 20 exhibition halls and interactive experience Spaces. Among them, the bronze Hall, calligraphy hall, painting hall, seal hall, ceramics hall, currency hall, sculpture hall, jade hall and other eight permanent exhibition halls, can be called the eight "Chinese ancient art history textbooks", with the world's unique panoramic layout, to build the most complete system of Chinese ancient art history exhibition at home and abroad. At the same time, the East Hall is supplemented by special exhibitions reflecting the characteristics of Jiangnan culture and Shanghai culture, and launches a new interactive experience space to hold colorful special exhibitions, highlighting the "audience friendly" and "digital intelligence" and other highlights, and carefully build an important cultural window of "the world to see China" and a cultural "meeting room" of the people's city.
People's Square Pavilion
People's Square Pavilion is located at 201 People's Avenue, with "World Civilization Pavilion" as its main orientation. Based on the systematic collection of more than 10,000 pieces (sets) of foreign cultural relics, we will start the global collection of cultural relics and art, prepare permanent exhibitions reflecting the themes of world civilization and the "Belt and Road", and strengthen cooperation with internationally renowned cultural relics and art institutions to introduce more high-quality "Dialogue World" series and other special exhibitions. Strive to build China's first museum to regularly display "types of world civilizations" and an important exhibition center for global civilization exchanges and mutual learning, and become an important hub platform for "China to see the world".
North Pavilion (under construction)
North Hall (Yangtze Estuary No. 2 Ancient Ship Museum) is located at the former site of Shanghai Shipyard in Binjiang, Yangpu, with the main orientation of "archaeological museum". At present, we are actively promoting the archaeological excavation, cultural relic protection and museum preparation of the Yangtze River Estuary No. 2 ancient ship, and strive to complete the construction of the North Hall during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. The North Hall will set the highest international standards and the best level, and build a world-influential ancient ship and archaeology museum, the world's first-class underwater archaeology research center, the display window of the international shipping trade center and the cultural landmark of the people's city "life show belt". While meeting the requirements of large wooden ancient ship cultural relics protection and long-term archaeological excavation, To provide an experience space for the public to explore the charm of archaeology and engage in interactive participation.
