  Wuhan City (hereinafter referred to as "Wuan"), also known as the "City of Rivers", is located in the central region of China, eastern region of Hubei Province at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Han River.  It is the capital of Hubei Province, also a famous national historic and cultural city, a central city and the only sub-provincial city in Central China, as well as an important industrial base, a science and education base and an integrated transportation hub in China.

  Wuhan is not only a model of a modern city, but also a cultural treasure trove that has been accumulated over a long period of history, with rich tourism resources.   Main attractions:

  1. Yellow Crane Tower

  The lofty Yellow Crane Tower located on Sheshan Mountain in Wuchang District is known for its unparalleled scenery as one of the “Three Famous Towers South of Yangtze River" (the other two towers are Yueyang Tower in Hunan Province and Tengwang Tower in Jiangxi Province). It is a 51.4 meters high five-storied tower with interlocking eaves, pavilion roof and yellow glazed tiles. The ground floor is 30 meters wide in each side and the top floor is 18 meters wide in each side. Large murals, couplets and cultural relics are available on all floors of the tower. Outside the tower, there are bronze statues of yellow cranes, the Shengxiang Pagoda, memorial gates, galleries, pavilions and other subsidiary buildings, adding radiance and beauty to the main tower. On top of the tower, tourists can gaze into the distance and obtain a fabulous panoramic view of the endless Yangtze River and the three towns of Wuhan. It is also a national 5A-class tourist attraction.

  2. Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area

  Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area, located in the central urban area of Wuhan, Hubei Province, is one of the first recognized national scenic areas in China. The area of lakes inside the scenic area is 33 square kilometers. It mainly consists of large natural lakes and is recognized as a 5A-class scenic area, a national wetland park, and a national demonstration zone of ecological tourism. The 101.98km long East Lake Greenway inside the scenic area is the longest 5A-class lakeside greenway in urban area of cities in China, connecting tourist attractions such as Moshan Scenic Spot, Tingtao Scenic Spot, Luoyan Scenic Spot, Chuidi Scenic Spot, Wuhan Botanical Garden, Wuhan Happy Valley, and Wuhan East Lake Ocean Park. East Lake Greenway consists of 7 roads with different themes including Tingtao Road, Huzhong Road, Baima Road, Jiaoye Road, Shenlin Road, Moshan Road, and Hushan Road, and fully incorporates natural landscape of mountains, forests, lakes and swamps, gardens, islands, dykes, fields and river bends, turning East Lake into an "ecological green center" for citizens to get closer to the natural environment. It has been recognized by UN-Habitat as a "Chinese demonstration project of urban public space improvement”.

  3. Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge

  Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, which lies between Sheshan Mountain and Guishan Mountain, is the first highway-railway combined bridge over the Yangtze River. It is also known as the "First Bridge over the Yangtze River". The bridge construction was commenced on September 1, 1955 and it was open to traffic on October 15, 1957. Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge is a 1,670m long double-deck bridge. The upper level of the bridge is a two-way, four-lane automobile highway, and the lower level is a double-track railway. It is veritably “a grand bridge that spans the north and south and turns a deep chasm into a thoroughfare”.

  4. Hubu Lane

  Hubu Lane, located at Simenkou, the busiest area in Wuchang District, Wuhan, traces back to the Ming Dynasty and it's named after the nearby government office (equivalent to the Ministry of Revenue in feudal China) of the Qing Dynasty. It is adjacent to Shili Long Street (Jiefang Road) in the east, the vast Yangtze River in the west, the Yellow Crane Tower in the south, and Dufu Embankment Revolution-themed Tourism Area. It accommodates a large number of long-standing shops providing iconic snacks representing breakfast culture in Wuhan, including hot dry noodles of Cailinji, tri-delicacy doupi made by Laotongcheng, and steamed dumplings of Sijimei. In a sense, Hubu Lane is the old Wuhan in miniature, a landmark of Wuhan and a symbol of "Wuhan Snacks".

  5. Mulan Cultural and Ecological Tourism Area

  Mulan Cultural and Ecological Tourism Area, covering an area of 186,000 square kilometers, is a 5A-class national tourism area composed of Mulan Mountain, Mulan Great Lake, Mulan Prairie and Mulan Yunwu Mountain in Huangpi District, Wuhan City. Visitors may appreciate the grandeur of Mulan Mountain (a religious landmark dating back over one thousand years, and a national geological park), explore the secluded valleys and hills and waters at Mulan Great Lake (a national forest park), enjoy the charm of prairies at Mulan Prairie (the only scenic area with prairies in Central China), and admire azaleas across ten thousand mu on Mulan Yunwu Mountain.

  6. Hankow Customs House Museum

  Hankow Customs House Museum, located at No. 129, Yanjiang Avenue, Hankou, is a comprehensive museum that collects, preserves, researches and showcases various cultural relics, documents, and material objects related to the modern history of Wuhan. It is a landmark recording the glory, humiliation, and modernization of Wuhan after it was designated as a treaty port in 1861. It is also an important heritage site under state-level protection. Memories of Wuhan's citizens of the bell house and bell tone never fade over time.

  7. Wuhan Revolution Museum

  Wuhan Revolution Museum, located at the Dufu Embankment in the old urban area of Wuchang, is composed of five revolutionary sites including the former site of the CPC Peasant Movement Training Institute, the former residence of Mao Zedong, the site of the Fifth National Congress of the CPC and the site where Chen Tanqiu carried out revolutionary activities at the early stage, the site of the Wuchang Uprising Gate, and the historical exhibition hall of disciplines developed by the CPC. As a comprehensive museum, it collects, preserves and studies cultural relics related to revolutions and the history of the CPC and showcases important historical events and the history of the great revolution and the CPC. It is also a national Class-I museum, a national Class-4A tourist attraction, and an important heritage site under state-level protection.

  8. Hubei Provincial Museum

  Hubei Provincial Museum, located adjacent to the East Lake, has more than 240,000 collections, including great pieces of the ancient Qujialing culture and Shijiahe culture, the bronzeware from Panlongcheng and the State of Chu and the State of Zeng, and cultural relics from the tomb of Prince Zhuang of Liang, the tomb of Prince Jing of Ying and Wudang Mountain. Collections like the chime-bells and bronze wares from the tomb of Marquis Yi of the Zeng State, the Sword of Goujian, the large jade blade of Shang Dynasty unearthed in Panlongcheng, the human skull fossils from Yunxian County, the blue and white plum vase decorated with four-love pictures of Yuan Dynasty, and the golden book of Wudang Mountain enjoy a good reputation in China and the rest of the world.

  9. Wuhan Museum

  Wuhan Museum, a national first-grade museum and a 4A-class scenic area in China, has a floor area of over 26,000 square meters and accommodates display areas of 6,000 square meters. It has about 60,000 collections of great variety and over 2,000 great pieces of various types are on display, including articles made by workshops of the Qing Dynasty at the request of the emperor, brilliant works of masters of past dynasties, unearthed objects of high archeological value, and exquisite masterpieces. It offers permanent exhibitions like the Exhibition of Ancient History of Wuhan, the Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary History of Wuhan, the Pottery and Porcelain Art of Ancient China, and the Collection of Historical Relics, and a variety of high-quality temporary exhibition.

  10. Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street

  Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street located in the central area of Hankou is known as the longest pedestrian street in China and the "Best Pedestrian Street in the World". It runs through Zhongshan Avenue and Jinghan Avenue, and reaches Yanjiang Avenue in the south and Jiefang Avenue in the north. It is a renowned century-old commercial street in Wuhan. Restaurants providing Chinese foods, western cuisines, Korean barbecue recipes, Japanese foods, hot pot recipes and fast foods stand in great numbers. As one of the must-see food streets for visitors, delicious foods are easily found at restaurants of various types at Jiali Plaza in Hankou, Wanda Plaza, Qianjin Fourth Road, Qianjin Fifth Road, Jinghan Avenue, the pedestrian streets, Hankou River Beach, and other high streets and back lanes.
